A model stops learning when its training ends - typically months before release. Anything newer, it has to retrieve from the live web. Without that, answers come from outdated data: yesterday's prices presented as today's.

Why Bixberry behaves differently from other apps

Most apps run in short bursts - open, use, close. Bixberry works only while connected, so with your permission it stays active in the background. That's why it appears in your battery list.

Battery

Staying connected and passing along small web checks uses some energy - modest, and comparable to an ordinary app sitting connected in the background. It rises a little when your connection is busier.

The "why" is simple physics: your phone talks to the internet by radio. Talking costs a little energy - and over WiFi it costs noticeably less than over mobile data, because your WiFi router is a few meters away while a cell tower is much further.

Staying awake

During setup, your phone may ask to exclude Bixberry from battery optimization. This lets the app work while your screen is off. You can reverse it in your phone settings anytime - we show you how.

Data

The network carries small web checks - pages, prices, listings - not media streaming. Typical daily use is a fraction of a short video call. On WiFi-only mode, your mobile data plan isn't used.

Your controls

WiFi-only is the recommended setting: easiest on battery, and your mobile plan stays out of it. You can switch to mobile data sharing in settings - and back - anytime.

What stays outside

The network routes public web checks through your connection. It doesn't look at your phone. Traffic is encrypted, and Bixberry is built to GDPR and CCPA from day one - consent first, by design.

How does Bixberry affect my device battery?

It uses some - staying connected in the background takes a little energy, like any app that keeps a live connection. It's modest, it rises slightly when your connection is busier, and it's lowest on WiFi. WiFi-only mode is the recommended setting if battery matters most to you.

Does it use my mobile data?

Only if you allow it. On WiFi-only mode - the default recommendation - your mobile plan is never touched. If you enable mobile data sharing, usage stays small: web pages and listings, not video streams.

How do background apps work - and why does Bixberry ask to stay awake?

Phones aggressively pause background apps to save power. Bixberry is only useful while connected, so it asks to stay awake - that's the whole reason. The setting changes nothing else, and you can reverse it in your phone settings at any time.

Who exactly uses my connection?

Only verified AI companies. Every partner is checked for compliance, security, and legitimate AI infrastructure use before they're allowed on - and if we can't tell you who's using your connection, they don't get access. Behind those companies are people asking everyday questions: prices, places, today's news.

What data can you see?

We don't see your personal files, your browsing, or anything you do on your device. Bixberry only routes AI requests through your connection - it doesn't read what's on it.
